I have started an Amazon "Wish List" of books for the art room that has books we could use for the art room and some books that have previously disappeared from the art room. Feeling generous? Buy Sandburg Art a book or two! Here's our list:

Not only is it sad, it is a lack of respect. SD205 is lucky to EVEN have ART and this is how the students show thier respect by not returning the books? We pay alot of taxes to have this priviliage. These students need to step up to the plate and be more responsible. Art is no different than Math, English and sciences...and believe me, those books would be replaced at the parents expense. Do you have a post on the door asking these students if they have the books? I am sorry that you have to deal with this. My kids loved art classes with you and you do not deserve this. I hope you get them back.

Dear SD205 Tax payer -
ReplyDeleteThanks for your support! Fortunately, one book DID find his way back home. I think sometimes students borrow books and forget to tell me, although now I do have to enact a strict "no borrowing" policy due to so many disappearances.
I put an announcement in the daily announcements to try to find my books, and I alert the teachers via email in case they discover a stray book in their classroom. Unfortunately, I think that sometimes students might be too embarrassed to admit that they accidentally walked off with a book. I hope they know that I am more glad to have it back than anything else and not to worry about that!

p.s. Most of the classroom books get purchased through "extra" money, like PTA donations or leftover art club fees. I usually don't have enough in my regular supply budget to buy art books (I know, sad!) or replace them after they've gone.
